FORT WILLIAM 2nd World Cup round

Fort William is always a mythical race with a good organisation, lots of spectators and an awesome trail. This year the track changed and it become more demanding physicaly and even faster. It’s with fervor that the team got on the ferry and arrived in Scotland under some unusual sunshine, moreover this year the team got one of the best team place right next to the gondola.

It went well for Florent during the first few times down the track. Fabien didn’t get it easy and felt badly. Luckily he got away with only a big bruise on his thigh. Fabien and Florent qualified for the finals with a nice 23rd place for Florent. On sunday the crowd was impressive. Almost 30 000 people came. Fabien started the finals under the encouragement of tones of people but couldn’t pedal on the majority of the track because of a mechanical problem but anyway Fabien wasn’t in a great run, he finished 59th.

Florent did an average start and arrival but did real good in the middle section. He ended 29th in the second world cup where the times were real thight. Florent is anyhow happy of his run since this places him close to the top 20.

Stephane the mechanic, Florent and Fabien are stopping by the headquarters of Blackmountain this week before heading to the The Wheel of Speed, the famous german race. Fabien and Florent keep highly motivated for the races to come.

Fort William ! Cette course mythique n’a pas pris une ride depuis 2002 et ceci grâce à une organisation sans faille, un public impressionnant
et un tracé atypique.
Cette année d’ailleurs le tracé a connu quelques changements qui l’ont rendu encore plus exigeant physiquement, plus cassante mais plus rapide aussi. C’est donc avec enthousiasme que le team a traversé la manche et a été accueillie par un beau soleil écossais. De plus l’organisation nous avais réservé un espace team à deux pas de l’arrivée et des télécabines, donc tout commençait pour le mieux.

Pour Florent les reconnaissances ce sont bien passées. Fabien quant à lui fait une lourde chute et, par chance, s’en sort qu’avec un gros hématome à la cuisse.
Fabien et Florent se qualifient pour la finale avec une belle 23eme place de Florent. Dimanche le public est impressionnant sur le bord de la piste. Près de 30 000 personnes ont fait le déplacement!!!! Fabien s’élançe sous les encouragements d’un public survolté sur tout le long de la piste mais malheureusement un souci au niveau de sa transmission l’empêche de pédaler sur une bonne partie du circuit mais Fabien n’était pas dans un très bon run. Il fait tout son possible pour au final accrocher une 59eme place.

Pour la course de Florent cela peut se résumer avec un départ et une arrivé moyenne mais un milieu de parcours réussit. Au final Florent prend la 29eme place de cette coupe du monde où le niveau était vraiment très homogène. Florent est quand même content de son run qui le place dans une position plus que favorable pour accrocher le top 20 pour le général.

Maintenant Stéphane le mécano, Florent et Fabien vont faire une halte au siège de Blackmountain avant de repartir pour « the Wheel of speed » la fameuse course de descente Allemande. Fabien et Flo restent motivés et continuent à se préparer et à garder confiance pour les courses à venir.
